Greeted and received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University, a group from the Confucius Institute (CI), Chiang Mai University led by Ms. Lian Chen, Director of the Institute, discussed possible cooperation, which could usefully be assisted by CI, particularly in teaching the Chinese language and collaborative research primarily focused on working closely with the Faculty of Humanities. Serving as one of the 16 CIs in Thailand, Ms. Chen took this opportunity to broaden regional linkage with Naresuan University, located at the lower north of the country, and tighten close diplomatic relationship between China and Thailand. Upon this visit, the opening of Chinese Language and Culture Center at Room HU 5213, the Faculty of Humanities presided over by the President was also arranged. The center is meant for source of information with regard to historically rich culture of China alongside with long inherited tradition and unique ways of life; it also acts as a Chinese testing branch of CI at Chiang Mai University and Naresuan University where interested individuals can easily get access to.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 9.00 a.m. at Office of the President, and the opening ceremony later commenced at 10.00 a.m. at HU 5213, the Faculty of Humanities.
