On February 27, 2025, His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Akishino of Japan was formally conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Animal Science by Naresuan University in recognition of his significant contributions to poultry research. The conferral ceremony took place at the King Naresuan Exhibition and Convention Center in Phitsanulok Province, with university executives, faculty members, and students in attendance.
Crown Prince Akishino is internationally renowned for his extensive research on poultry evolution, particularly the transition from wild jungle fowl to domesticated chickens. His fieldwork has taken him across Thailand and Southeast Asia, where he has conducted in-depth studies on the relationship between humans and chickens.
