Ambassador of France to Thailand Visits Naresuan University

Warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University and other senior executive members from Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to Thailand, Madame Ambassador and representatives from PSS Amarenco spent their first time visitation at the university to discuss collaborative activities, which the embassy could help assist in liaising with French counterpart universities and private companies. Currently, France and Thailand have a cooperation agreement to push forward these issues; i.e., technology and innovation, BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) projects, agribusiness and agriculture, including exhibitions and conferences.  The university learned from the ambassador that later this year France and Thailand will come up with a platform of innovation and research for public and private sectors to take part in where solar energy is priority; H.E. Mathou invited Naresuan University to join this platform as one of the working groups and president Sarintip welcomed this offer. There was also a discussion towards collaboration with PSS Amarenco, a company housing 600 greenhouses to test varieties of agricultural crops and known for its largest energy storage (capable of producing 100 megawatts and one of the top five in Europe) in France and Faculty of Engineering was keen to work with the company with regard to a research laboratory in solar energy.  H.E. Mathou also emphasized key activities to drive the linkage; staff and student mobility, research and identifying specific research for the soon formalized platform.

The meeting was organized on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11.00 at Mahamontri Meeting Room, King Naresuan Exhibition and Convention Center.
