Funding Opportunities from the United Kingdom

 

Warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University, and senior executive staff members, Mr. Chavit Uttamachai, Science and Innovation Advisor from British Embassy in Bangkok and Mr. Chayanant Boonmee, Science Program Manager from British Council Thailand served as speakers on ‘UK Roadshow on Science, Research and Innovation’ to shed light on useful information on channels of opportunities/fundings and available programs from the UK to support higher education and science for interested NU academic staff and researchers.  The productive lectures incorporated International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF), sponsored by UK Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, focusing on research and innovation with the nature of multidisciplinary projects on 4 key thematic issues: Healthy People, Animals and Plants, Transformative Technologies, Resilient Planet and Tomorrow’s Talent; Funding from other UK Departments such as National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office; Chevening scholarships, fully funded masters’ level study program at any UK universities.  Other interesting opportunities include GREAT scholarships, which grant a financial support of 10,000£ per annum and available for 200 grants in eligible 14 countries.  The talk ended with tips, tricks, tactics of how to write successful proposals by keeping in mind with different natures of each scholarship program and restrictions/requirements, which help increase the success rate of applications submitted.

The event, organized by Division of Research and Innovation and attended by some 50s participants, took place on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Naresuan Room 301, 3rd floor, Office of the President.  Prior to the activity, the 2 guests spent the morning period visiting Center of Organic Agriculture Standard Development and Surveillance of Agrichemical Residues (OASSAR) and Cosmetic and Natural Products Research Center (COSNAT).
