High-Office Delegates from KUST Visit NU

A group of distinguished delegates from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), People’s Republic of China headed by Prof. Dr. Wang Hua, President of KUST was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU).  A visit of KUST team primarily focused on a signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities and a discussion of plans for collaborative activities to strengthen the close tie of the parties, specifically NU Faculty of Logistics and Digital Supply Chain.  NU had developed a relationship with KUST since 2016 and there has been interchange of visits between KUST and NU for academic/research purposes up to the present time.  Prof. Hua proposed during the event that research on new energy development, material science, logistics and supply chain, renewable energy, electric vehicles (EV) and medicine, which could usefully broaden to Thai-Chinese traditional medicine, be explored and collaborated.  Emphases also covered mobility of students and scholars between KUST and NU.  KUST also introduced postdoctoral research programs for interested NU staff members to spend times at KUST to conduct research where part(s) of funding is taken care of by KUST.  After the signing concluded, there was a separate discussion between KUST team and staff of Faculty of Logistics and Digital Supply Chain (LDSC) as the host of this MOU.  It was agreed upon that double degree programs at bachelor’s level (2+2) master’s level (1+1) and Ph.D. level (2+1) be developed.  KUST is also keen to send high school students to study bachelor’s programs at Naresuan University International College and NU welcomes this offer whereas NU will have students at Naresuan University Demonstration School (NUDS) notified about opportunities to study at KUST as well.

The signing ceremony, attended by representatives from LDSC, Faculty of Engineering and School of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology, was arranged on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Naresuan 310 Room, Office of the President.
