Nims University, a Prospective Partner of Naresuan University

 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University extended a warm welcome to a distinguished team members from Nims University (NIMS), India and Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) headed by Prof. Dr. Balvir Singh Tomar, Founder and Chancellor of NIMS.  Deans and representatives from Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences attended this import event to discuss likely cooperation and collaborative activities in medical science as proposed by NIMS.  Being on the same vein as Naresuan University, NIMS, though officially established in 2000; currently accommodates some 25,000 students and ranked 5th as an emerging medical school in India, serves as a comprehensive university, based in Rajasthan, Jaipur, India, offering full ranges of degree programs focusing on health sciences, human sciences, advanced engineering and science to name just a few.  A full-fledged 1,400 bed hospital is account for one of the best healthcare service delivery in the area where approximately 800 patients use the service daily.

A discussion covered training program for staff (4 weeks), mobility actions of student exchange both short-term and long-term, joint research activities/publications, specifically in areas relating to neurosciences and oncology.  For NU Faculty of Medicine, this could be implemented on fellowship program based (1 year), not to mention the fact that the faculty is launching an MSc. program in parallel with residency and Ph.D. program in Clinical Immunology whereas cooperation on clinical pharmacy, pre-clinical pharmacy, biochemistry (ones of many fields of expertise of NIMS) and faculty exchange could be started with Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Faculty of Medical Science is keen to develop student exchange activities under credit transfer plus joint translation research in stem cells and molecular biology.  President Sarintip proposed that all of which should be materialized through a signing of an MoU between NIMS and NU, initially directed towards the Health Sciences Cluster of NU.

As a member of AUAP, presently houses some 180 higher education institutes worldwide, was also invited to take part in upcoming  General Conference and its Election in November 2024 in Bhopal, India and World Health Summit in April 2025 in New Delhi.

The meeting took place on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 10.00 at Naresuan 304 Meeting Room, Office of the President.
