Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU), extended her warm welcome to Mr. Ryo Harada, Manager, International Business Department, Credit Business Division who represented Green Carbon Inc., Japan upon his visit to the university for a research project on ’The Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) Irrigation Technique on Rice Fields.’ The person, brought by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanin Umponstira, Dean of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, discussed details of the project with president Tantanee and indicated that the AWD technique is meant to significantly reduces methane emissions commonly produced in permanently flooded rice paddies; as a result, a much lower carbon footprint constituting greenhouse effect to the world. This research has been conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tepsuda Rungrat, a lecturer from Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, in line with standards and guidelines from Green Carbon.
After the meeting, the two original copies of MOU between Green Carbon Inc., and Naresuan University were also handed over to signify concrete cooperation from both the parties.
