Prof. Boris Gaensicke, a professor in the Department of Physics at University of Warwick, the U.K., was warmly welcomed by Assoc Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University.  Presently a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant Fellow and expert in white dwarf study, Prof. Gaensicke was invited by Faculty of Science to collaborate with Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornrat Aungwerojwit on the analysis and publication of ULTRASPEC Observations obtained with the Thai National Telescope (TNO), 2.4 metered diameter large located in Chiang Mai, specifically focusing on the study of white dwarfs exhibiting transits form planetary debris, which provides insight into the tidal disruption of asteroids, moons and possible planets.  On the other hand, Naresuan University, through its Institute for Fundamental Studies, has recently organized the Astro Night event in cooperation with the National Astronomical Research Institute (NARIT) attended by thousands of students who are interested in astronomy and cosmology.  Prof. Gaensicke will also give a lecture on ‘How will the world(s) end?’ for staff and students at the faculty and discuss collaborative activities and network in material science and polymer chemistry during his 2 week stay at NU.
