Naresuan University Hosts the 8th National Soil and Fertilizer Conference

The Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Environment at Naresuan University was honored to co-host the 8th National Soil and Fertilizer Conference in collaboration with the Soil and Fertilizer Society of Thailand. The event, themed “Reviving Soil for Agriculture and the Environment,” took place from July 11-12, 2024, at the King Naresuan Exhibition and Convention Center (KNECC) at Naresuan University.

The conference aimed to disseminate knowledge and innovations to farmers and entrepreneurs, enhancing their understanding of advancements in soil and fertilizer. The goals were to strengthen farmers, increase competitiveness through technology and innovation, promote adaptation, build resilience under global changes, and achieve balanced and sustainable soil resource management. Additionally, the conference sought to increase agricultural productivity and enhance agricultural income through collaboration between the government, private sector, and entrepreneurs.

Associate Professor Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, Acting President of Naresuan University, stated at the opening ceremony that Naresuan University, a comprehensive university, aimed to distribute educational opportunities and equity to the population, especially in the nine provinces of Lower Northern Thailand. The university strived to produce graduates who meet societal needs, improving the quality of life and well-being of the people. This also included the sustainable conservation and restoration of natural resources and the environment. Soil resources were particularly crucial for the agricultural livelihoods of people in this region. This event served as a platform to share research findings, technology, and innovations related to soil resource restoration in collaboration with network partners. It aimed to promote agriculture that utilized technology and innovation in safe, environmentally-friendly production systems, creating added value and reducing agricultural production costs. It also focused on efficient fertilizer use, reducing waste and by-products, and promoting farmers’ access to information, enabling them to effectively manage their farms and increase their income.

Assistant Professor Dr. Warasit Tochampa, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Environment, mentioned that the event included special lectures by esteemed soil experts, exhibitions from government and private sectors, presentations, and training sessions for farmers on various trending topics.
