Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU), extended her warm welcome to Mr. Armido Simoes, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr. Baptista da Silva, Education Attaché, the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Bangkok upon their visit to Naresuan University to discuss collaborative activities between the embassy and NU. Madam president congratulated Timor-Leste upon its success to become the 11th member of ASEAN. With a view to increase international collaboration with overseas partners, NU places an emphasis, among other things such as transnational education, on student exchange programs and cultural activities to groom both inbound and outbound students to become global citizens who are also appreciate cultural diversities. The embassy also took this opportunity to seek a possibility for Timorense students to study at NU, where the fields of priorities are placed upon medicine and public health. Besides programs of studies at bachelor’s degree level, NU encouraged the embassy that they should also consider sending Timorense students to study at postgraduate level to bar prerequisite Thai language for bachelor’s degree study.

After a discussion concluded, the embassy team spent a visit to Faculty of Science to exchange points of view towards future cooperation and took a laboratory visit at the faculty led by Ms. Clotilde Lobato da Cruz, a scholarship Timorense student under Thailand International Postgraduate Programme: TIPP.
