KUNMING, PRC – Naresuan University (NU) executives participated in high-level academic forums in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China, reinforcing the university’s commitment to international cooperation and sustainable regional development.
On October 23, 2025, the delegation, including Dr. Phisut Apichayakul, Vice President for International Relations and Technology Transfer, Prof. Dr. Kornkanok Ingkaninan, Vice President for Research and Innovation Development, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sukunya Ross, Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Science, attended “The 8th Kunming Forum on South & Southeast Asia Education Cooperation”. The delegation also took part in the unveiling ceremony of the “China (Yunnan)–South and Southeast Asia Engineering Education Innovation and Development Alliance,” which aims to strengthen engineering education cooperation.
Subsequently, the executives joined the “China (Yunnan) – South and Southeast Asia International Conference on Innovation and Development in Engineering Education”. At this conference, Dr. Phisut Apichayakul delivered a keynote speech titled “Engineering Education Empowers Regional Development and Innovation Drives a Green Future Blueprint,” highlighting Naresuan University’s vision for sustainable innovation.
On October 24, 2025, the delegation visited the Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Ying-Jun Zhang, senior researcher in natural products chemistry, who guided the team through KIB’s major facilities, including the Department of Phytochemistry and Natural Products Chemistry, the Analytical Center for Plant Chemistry, the Herbarium and Germplasm Bank of Wild Species, and the Kunming Botanical Garden.The team held academic exchanges with KIB researchers and leadership, including Vice Director Prof. Zhang Yu. The NU executives presented on the university’s research ecosystem, research on Thai herbal products, and potential scientific collaborations.
The visit concluded with a discussions in principle regarding future collaboration, with the objective of advancing the implementation of joint research projects in natural products chemistry and biodiversity, as well as fostering the exchange of researchers and graduate students in the future.
