Folklore Specialist from Indiana University, USA, Visits NU under the Reinventing University Project

 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU), extended her warm welcome to Professor Dr. Jason Baird Jackson, a professor in Folklore and Anthropology and Director of Material Culture and Heritage Studies Laboratory, Indiana University, the United States of America. Brought by Asst. Prof. Dr. Onusa Sawanpratest, Dean of NU Faculty of Humanities and Project Leader, the person serves as a visiting professor under the project ‘Empowering Climate Action through Green Innovation and Global Research Collaboration,’ supported by Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) under the Reinventing Programme. Sharing a similar interest and research focus on Folklore, Professor Dr. Jackson gave lectures to staff and students in Folklore at Faculty of Humanities, explored a historical site in Sukhothai and will meet with ethnic groups in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province. President Tantanee indicated that Professor Jackson’s visit is timely as she plans to push forward the NU Fusion Engine framework, where Science and Arts sysnergize in academic/research aspects, to help drive Naresuan University for internationalization.

Naresuan University and Indiana University also discussed plans for further multi-disciplinary collaborations.
